Collective Brands

Betty is responsible for leading the global human resource efforts at Collective Brands, overseeing the human resource and communication strategies that enable a high performance organization. Her unique combination of human resources, customer service and operations experience makes her a strong strategic business partner to the senior leadership of Collective Brands and its three business units.

She is also responsible for setting strategic human resource direction for Collective Brands including recruiting, organization & associate development, retention, total rewards and associate engagement strategies for the enterprise. Betty is also responsible for associate communications and social responsibility for Collective Brands.

Betty served as Vice President – HR Operations and Learning and Development for Payless ShoeSource from 2005 through 2008 and as Vice President – HR Solutions from 2002 through 2005.

Before joining the Company, Betty spent twenty-one years with Verizon Communications (formerly GTE), where she served in a range of HR, customer service and operations roles of increasing responsibility to support the company’s evolution and expansion. Her most recent role was Vice President – Corporate Human Resources. As Executive Director – Compensation Strategies, she managed compensation strategy, design and delivery for Verizon’s 70,000 management employees. She also held the role of Director, International Human Resources, where she was responsible for staffing, HR strategies and support for international acquisitions, mergers and privatization initiatives.

Betty, 48, graduated magna cum laude from Texas Woman’s University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the Society for Human Resources Management.
