Dan Park
VP, Product Development & Sourcing
Payless ShoeSource
Dan Park has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. His group develops and sources more than 150 million pairs of shoes each year. As a West Point graduate, Dan had the leadership concept down pat. That, plus his experience in strategy consulting and retail management, made him attractive to Collective Brands three years ago.
He started out as a VP for Merchandise Distribution. Being chosen to head up special projects on new store concepts and marketing clusters gave him broader exposure to all aspects of the business. Then he was tapped to lead product development.
“Collective allowed me to get exposure to areas that were totally new to me,” Dan says. “They had faith in me and allowed me to grow, learn new aspects of the business and succeed.”
“Our guiding principles are really important, and people actually live by them. That translates into a culture that is very collaborative, very open. It’s a large company, but it feels small. It’s customer-focused and innovative. We do what’s right. It’s a neat place to work.”
