Stride Rite Reports Fourth Quarter Results

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 2001--The Stride Rite Corporation (NYSE:SRR) today reported the results for the fourth quarter of its 2000 fiscal year.

Net sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 decreased 7% to $95.4 million from $102.3 million in the comparable period of fiscal 1999, which included an extra week due to the Company's fiscal calendar. The Company incurred a net loss of $685,000 or $.02 per diluted share in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 as compared to net income of $399,000 or $.01 per diluted share in last year's fourth quarter.
